Painter Simeon Stafford’s distinctive style has made him one of the UKs most recognised artists.

He was born in 1956 near Manchester amid the gritty landscape of the industrial North, and as a child he met celebrated painter L.S. Lowry, who encouraged him to pursue a career as an artist.  Lowry who was famous for painting scenes in the industrial districts of North West England is prevalent within Stafford’s work by the simple perspective, stylized figures and densely populated scenes, but in a painterly, brightly coloured style all of his own and likely influenced by his move to Cornwall in 1996.

Sometimes called “Cornwall’s Lowry”, Stafford is widely regarded as one of the leading, living British painters. His work is known to be joyful and happy with the buzz of humanity being central to his works, and many of his paintings feature individuals from his own life and family.

Simeon has exhibited at the Royal Academy, and his work is held in numerous public and private collections, including that of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
