Bio Adrian Heath

Adrian Heath (1920 – 1992) was a 20th century British painter, a pioneer of abstraction in the British post-war period. Born in Burma, he studied art under Stanhope Forbes and at the Slade school of fine art. He served in the RAF as a tail gunner in Lancaster bombers in World War II, but spent almost the entire war as a prisoner of war at Stalag 383. During this period, he became friends with and taught fellow artist Sir Terry Frost to paint.

Adrian Heath pained abstract and semi-abstract pictures in oils and acrylic paints, his works are represented in collections all over the world, including the Tate Gallery, British Museum and the Brooklyn Museum in New York.
